Residence halls will stay open an extra day to accommodate students who have tickets to Saturday's playoff football game. Officials say students still have time to request a late check-out, but need to hurry.

Students who request the extra day will be allowed to check out of their residence hall as late as 6 p.m. Saturday. For other students, the buildings are set to close 10 p.m. Friday.

Residence Life staff notified students by e-mail on Monday about the opportunity to check out a day later. Students were originally given until 9 p.m. Tuesday to sign up.

According to Director of Residence Life Kathleen Kerr, 138 students signed up by the deadline.

However, Kerr said Wednesday evening that students who have tickets to the game can still sign up to stay late. But Kerr urged students to make a decision as quickly as possible because staff needs time to extend the student's electronic access to the buildings.

"It will be very hard, if not impossible, for us to give building access to students who do not talk with us tonight or tomorrow morning, as all the building access will go down Friday at 10 p.m.," Kerr stated in an e-mail message.

Officials said Wednesday that tickets are still available for the Hens' semifinal game against Georgia Southern. Kickoff is set for noon on Saturday.
