This girl was found abandoned in a gas station bathroom on Sunday.

Newark Police are asking for the public's help in identifying an abandoned child, found crying in the men's restroom of the Shell gas station at 804 S College Ave., at approximately 2:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

A customer found the girl after hearing crying from inside the restroom. Entry to the room requires a key, and no information is known about the child or who left her, police said.

The girl is described as approximately 2-years-old, black and with her hair is pulled up on top of her head.  She is wearing a tan puffy winter coat over a size 3T purple shirt with small flower prints scattered on it, size 3T blue jeans with a pink and white design stitched on the left leg.  She is also wearing pink, white, and purple sneakers with purple laces, and white ankle socks.  Her ears are pierced, but there are no earrings currently in the ear.

She remains in the care of Delaware's Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families.

Any information regarding the child's identity or caregivers should be reported to Newark Police at (302) 366-7111.
