Police charged Jack “A.J.” Warrington, 27, with first degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited. Warrington remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
Police say last week’s incident began when the 21-year-old victim parked his car on the street and was walking up to his friend’s house at approximately 2:35 a.m. when he noticed he was being followed, He ran to the front porch of his friend’s house, where Warrington allegedly came up from behind and demanded money with a sharp object to the victim’s back.
The victim gave up his wallet after he was allegedly struck on the head with a wrench, police said.
Newark police believe a dark, 1994 Honda Accord with a rusted hood was used in the robbery. They are asking anyone who saw the car in the area of Prospect Avenue during the early morning hours of Nov. 18 to contact Det. Michael Watson at 302-366-7110ext 133 or Michael.Watson@cj.state.de.us.
