Newark police arrested a Newark man for participating in a food fight Saturday morning at IHOP at 108 E. Main St., according to Newark police spokesman MCpl. Gerald Bryda.

The man, 26, was part of a group of approximately six men dining at IHOP. During the course of their meal, the men became belligerent and began to exchange insults with another group at the restaurant.

Bryda said the group moved to leave the restaurant at approximately 3:30 a.m. when a woman in the other group threw a coffee pot at the man

Shortly after, members of both groups began to throw food and other kitchen items at each other, causing damage of approximately $1,000 to the IHOP property, Bryda said.

Officers continue to investigate the identity of the others involved in the fight, Bryda said.

How in the hell does the University have a townie problem. When Newark is not the University...the University is in Newark. Is that IHop exclusive to people with UofDE IDs now?

I talked to one of the waiters about this the girl was wearing stilettos and was standing on the booth and punched holes in the booth with her feet if you go to ihop check out the holes u can imagine the drunk idiot screaming stomping her feet like a two year old lol... who cares if it was a townie or college student either way the people that go there between 1:00 and 3:30 are drunk and for the most part rowdy...they should have a tv show with hidden cameras in there recording the stuff they talk about i'd watch it lol

Newark just has problems... the people here, townies or students (particularly those drunk at 3:30 AM) are obnoxious and disrespectful "generally" speaking.

It's amusing that the first comment blamed it on a college problem, when the article clearly stated the man involved was 26. Sounds like the University has a townie problem.

A bar fight...in a pancake house? Newark: a small cluster of houses with a big college problem.

Well I hope that the "woman" who threw the first pot of coffee is found... it sounds to me like that is what started it, despite the mouthing off, considering the article states that the group was leaving anyways.
