Delaware State Police have arrested three men they suspect were involved in several armed robberies throughout New Castle County, including the two holdups at the Dunkin' Donuts on Elkton Road earlier this month.
State police say Marvin J. Poore, 19, and Blake R. Marsh, 21, both of Wilmington and Jeffrey M. Moore, 22, of Elkton, Md. are being held on at least 13 separate counts of robbery, as well as weapons and conspiracy charges.
Among the alleged crimes are the Jan. 5 and Jan. 18 armed robberies at the Dunkin' Donuts at 1142 Elkton Road. In both incidents, the men allegedly showed a weapon, demanded money and fled with cash from the resister and the clerk's wallet.
Newark Police are still seeking a fourth man, Isaiah Brown, 19, of 501 Stewarton Ct in Newark, who they say was involved in the Jan. 5 robbery.
State police say Poore, Marsh and Moore were arrested Tuesday during a botched robbery at the Shell Gas Station located at 3932 Concord Pike in Wilmington.
Poore allegedly walked into the store, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. A nearby trooper saw Poore attempt to flee the scene and pursued him on foot, arresting him a brief time later in a nearby neighborhood after a brief struggle.
Troopers also arrested Marsh and Moore who were allegedly waiting in a get-away car not far from where Poore was apprehended.
New Castle County Police are also considering the possibility that these men may be involved in other crimes they are investigating.
Lt. Brian Henry of the Newark Police said such crimes can have a special significance to the student population of Newark because many students work nighttime cashier shifts.
Henry suggested that businesses keep windows clear of large banners, posters or advertisements so that passers-by can see any suspicious activity and notify authorities.
He also said employers should have more than one employee in the store at all times, and employees should be on the lookout for people loitering outside the store or entering and exiting the store without making a purchase.
"Always put [your] own personal safety first," Henry said. "If confronted with a weapon, you should always comply with the request."
