Newark police are searching for a man who attempted to rob the Happy Harry's in the Suburban Plaza Shopping Center Friday night.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., the man walked into the store and jogged to the pharmacy counter in the back, said Newark police spokesman MCpl. Gerald Bryda. He told the pharmacist he had a weapon in his pocket and demanded narcotics and money.
After the pharmacist did not obey quickly enough, the man fled the store and ran towards Home Depot.
He is described as white man in his 20s, and 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a mask from the nose down (possibly a paintball-style mask in a camouflage print), a camouflage hat, mirror-tinted sunglasses, a dark hoodie with the hood up, dark jeans and dark shoes.
Anyone with additional information about this incident should contact Det. Mike Watson at (302) 366-7110 ext. 133 or michael.watson@cj.state.de.us.
