A gunman held up a Newark McDonald's restaurant Tuesday night and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man entered the restaurant at 815 S. College Ave. at 10:33 p.m. carrying a black, long-barreled revolver and demanded cash from the cashier, said Newark police spokesman Lt. Mark Farrall.

After receiving the money, the man fled northbound on South College Avenue in an older-model, dark-colored, four-door sedan. Police believe the car has custom rims and window tint, and the rear passenger window may have something on it, such as a rain deflector or plastic bag.

The robber is described as a black man in his 30s or early 40s and 5 feet, 8 inches tall to 5 feet, 10 inches tall with an average build. He was last seen wearing black sneakers, black jeans, a blue shirt under a black leather jacket, a knit hat, sunglasses, and cloth around his mouth.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact incident should contact Det. Michael Watson at (302) 366-7110 ext. 133 or Michael.watson@cj.state.de.us.
