Four students were robbed at gunpoint in three separate incidents Saturday morning, according to Newark police.
The first occurred at 1:25 a.m. near Willa Road and Lehigh Road, off of West Park Place, Cpl. Gerald Bryda said in a statement. A 19-year-old male student was walking when a silver, four-door sedan pulled over to the side of the road.
A man got out of the vehicle, pointed a gun at the victim and stole the victim's wallet and cell phone. The suspect was described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, baggie blue jeans and dark colored sneakers.
Twenty minutes later, a 20-year-old male student walking on Wyoming Road near Yale Drive was approached by a man with a handgun who demanded the victim's wallet and cell phone.
The suspect then fled in a waiting vehicle. The suspect was described as a black male, 25 to 35 years old 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 170 to 180 pounds, and wearing a light tan pull-over hoodie and blue jeans.
The third incident occurred at 2:27 a.m. near Margaret Street and Annabelle Street. A male and female student, both 19, were approached by a man who displayed a black handgun and demanded the woman's purse.
The suspect left before receiving any property and fled in a red or maroon, four-door Honda, occupied by two other people. The suspect was described as a white male, 19 to 20 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall with an average build and wearing a white oversized hooded sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans.
Anyone with information is urged to call Newark police.
