A 15-year-old Newark boy has been arrested for breaking into four student rental houses late last year, according to Newark Police.

The suspect, whose name was not released since he is a minor, was charged with 16 different crimes, including four felony counts of second-degree burglary, two felony counts of theft and several misdemeanors.

The items were taken from houses located on North Street, North College Avenue and White Clay Drive in November and December, said Cpl. Gerald Bryda.

The stolen items were mainly electronic gaming systems, DVDs, guitars and amplifiers.

The suspect was tracked down after he allegedlylogged onto the Internet using a PlayStation3 that was taken during one of the burglaries.  After accessing the Internet, the suspect purchased several items using credit card information stored on the system.

Detectives used the IP address to track down the location of the stolen property, Bryda said.  After obtaining a search warrant for the suspect’s mother’s house, police uncovered most of the stolen items from the burglaries.
