Kathleen Dean Moore, philosophy professor at Oregon State University, will give a speech on climate change, entitled “Why It’s Wrong to Wreck the World: Climate Change and the Moral Obligation to the Future,” on Monday at 7 p.m. The event will take place in the Brown Laboratory auditorium, where Moore will address how the science of climate change has elicited indifference among the American public and how we can respond in ways that honor respect. Moore is the co-founder of the Spring Creek Project for Ideas, Nature and the Written Word at OSU, and is co-author of the university’s new Environmental Humanities Initiative, among other works.
