UD to face DSU for first time ever in football

It was announced Sunday afternoon that Delaware will host Delaware State in the first round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs on Friday, November 23 at 1:30 p.m.
The game, which will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools, will also be aired on ESPN.
Delaware (8-3, 5-3 CAA) lost 16-10 to Villanova on Saturday, leaving its postseason fate to the hands of the NCAA selection committee. Delaware State (10-1) won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and received an automatic-bid into the postseason.
This year marks the first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance by the Hornets, while the Hens have not been in the playoffs until 2004.
The controversy as to why the two teams have never played has recently become a national issue with Delaware alumnus Jeff Pearlman's ESPN.com column and a segment on the television series "Outside the Lines."

Maybe Pearlman can finally shut up about the controversy now.

Maybe Pearlman will "shut up" when Delaware explains why, in the history of the two programs, they had never faced each other in ANY sport until a basketball game in 1991. (Continued…)

So Geoff...why don't we play DSU, maybe because they have been a dismal MEAC team the last few years. Or maybe because we have better teams to play like D-1A Navy or next years Maryland battle. (Continued…)

I AGREE WITH KEVIN...why would UD waste our time with the lowly DSU. they have one cinderella season and now we are racist? geoff, ill see you at next years WEST CHESTER BATTLE

Oh crap, we're racists? I had no idea. I'm gonna have to tell all my black friends I can't talk to them anymore because I hate them and didn't know it until some (insert feminine care product that ends with "bag") from the back pages of ESPN said I was. (Continued…)
