Wide receiver Nihja White had a breakout game, making nine catches for 108 yards and one touchdown.

Freshman running back Andrew Pierce once again stole the show as Delaware (8-1, 5-1 CAA) beat Towson (1-8, 0-6 CAA) 48-0 Saturday afternoon.

Pierce became the first freshman in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season and also broke the freshman record for most rushing touchdowns, as his two touchdowns on the day brought him to 12 overall.

Quarterback Pat Devlin and wide receiver Nihja White also had big days for the Hens. Devlin threw for 318 yards, his most this season. White caught nine passes for 108 yards and a touchdown. The Hens had 589 total yards for the afternoon.

Delaware's defense pressured the Tigers all day, who were playing without suspended starting quarterback Chris Hart. Towson did not cross midfield in the first half and managed only two first downs in the half.

Anthony Walters picked up his fourth interception of the year in the third quarter as the defense obtained its second shutout of the season.

Devlin gave the Hens the lead on their second drive of the game, scoring his first rushing touchdown of the year on a five yard quarterback keeper. White had two catches for 40 yards on a nine-play, 72-yard drive. The Hens could have scored on their first drive, but Mike Perry's field goal attempt hit the left upright.

Delaware scored its second touchdown of the game in the second quarter on a 24-yard rush by Pierce. This capped a seven-play, 59-yard drive that took just under two minutes to complete. Perry later added a 29-yard field goal to extend the lead to 17-0 going into halftime.

Pierce got his second rushing touchdown on the Hens' first drive of the second half. After breaking the 1,000 yard mark on an 18-yard rush, he followed it up with a three-yard touchdown run. On the next drive, Perry tacked on three more points to make it 27-0.

Backup running back Leon Jackson scored his first touchdown of the season to extend the lead to 34-0 late in the third quarter. Jackson was able to break through Towson's defense and rush 63 yards for the score, the Hens' longest play from scrimmage all season.

White completed his day by catching a 6-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 41-0. Running back Walter Davis added another touchdown late to complete the scoring.
