The Adult Circus variety show ran by performers Chris Chelko and Michael DuBois, brought its unique brand of variety entertainment to the campus on Wednesday in the Scrounge at the Perkins Student Center.

The self-proclaimed show boasted a fast-paced mix of sideshow stunts, juggling, magic and mind-reading. The event, which was hosted by Kesher, the university's Jewish student group brought in approximately 150 people.

The adult circus has performed on The Tonight Show and on Music Television, in Mumbai, India as well as at about 300 colleges and corporations around the country. The team not only showcases stunts and tricks, but also introduces a strong comedic component with audience interaction.

DuBois said he is never nervous before shows.

"I just always want to make sure I am warmed-up properly," he said.

Chelko also said his nerves are not overwhelming, and in fact make the show better.

"With the adrenaline kicking it, it's an excited- nervous feeling," he said.

The show included Chelko walking on glass while DuBois was on his shoulders juggling machetes. DuBois also rode a six-foot unicycle and Chelko pulled a balloon animal through his nasal cavity and out of his mouth.

The partners are used to the feeling they get before a show. Chelko was president of the Performing Magician's Club and DuBois was president of the Juggling Club at Penn State University.

Sophomore Brooke Boothe said the performers put on a impressive show.

"These guys had me on the edge of my seat," Boothe said.

Junior Ivy Cohen, secretary of Kesher, helped spread the word about the event.

"We wanted to invite the adult circus because we thought this event could bring everyone together," Cohen said.

Junior Jodi Suckle president of Kesher, said she felt the Adult Circus would bring in non-Kesher students and bring a refreshing act to the university.

"We are always looking for new and unique things to do," Suckle said. "We wanted to invite everyone at UD to this event."

"This was our biggest event ever." Cohen said.
